Development Programme Coordinator

The New Zealand High Commission in Nuku’alofa is looking for a Development Programme Coordinator to help manage the New Zealand Aid Programme.  The applicant will join a team of people managing New Zealand’s funding in the energy, education, private sector, tourism, police, agriculture and other sectors.

The successful applicant will have project management experience in development, business, government or civil society, including planning, financial management, monitoring and evaluation.  

A relevant tertiary qualification is essential.  The applicant must have a high standard of written and oral communication skills, including the ability and confidence to engage on complex issues. The applicant must also be able to demonstrate the ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including Government officials and communities as well as with contractors and other donors.

The applicant we are looking for will be able to effectively prioritise and organise their own workload around competing priorities.  They will be able to quickly pick up new ways of working, including new processes and systems.  They will be able to work independently without requiring close supervision and also be able to work effectively in a team. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate sound judgment. 

Tongan language skills are highly desirable.
