Scholarships Officer - 6 months fixed term – possible extension
The New Zealand High Commission in Nuku’alofa is looking for a Scholarships Officer to manage New Zealand scholarships awarded annually to Tongans for study in Tonga, in New Zealand and in the Pacific region.
A good tertiary qualification is essential. The applicant must have a high standard of written and oral skills. The applicant must also be able to demonstrate the ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including Government officials as well as with contractors and other donors.
The applicant we are looking for will be able to effectively prioritise and organise their own workload around competing priorities. They will be able to quickly pick up new ways of working, including new processes and systems. They will be able to work independently without requiring close supervision and will demonstrate sound judgement. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team. Tongan language skills are required for this role.
This role is currently only funded for a six month period, and as a consequence the successful applicant will be offered a six month contract in the first instance. However we anticipate a good likelihood that the role will be extended beyond this point.
