‘Eua Island’s Kaufana airport runway and terminal was opened today by the Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Samiu Vaipulu and His Excellency Dr Jonathan Austin. The New Zealand Government provided $3.2 million (TOP$4.2 million) of assistance for the upgrade of the ‘Eua airport, which was completed in a record 57 days.

On 20th October 2011, Malia Tupuimakulata Kindergarten received assistance for the establishment of a new water tank thanks to the support of the New Zealand Government. 

The assistance was granted under the New Zealand High Commission’s Head of Mission Fund. 

NZHC staff joined the national clean up Tonga campaign on Friday 26th September, volunteering to tackle areas along the foreshore in Nuku’alofa. The clean up crew eagerly hopped into their cars and took off with their trash bags and gloves for a very good cause.

Leading the pack was the High Commissioner Jonathan Austin wearing bright red along with the others to show support for the ‘Ikale Tahi Tongan rugby team (plus some black for the All Blacks and Office Manager Tapu Fisi'ihoi betraying her Samoan roots with a spot of blue).

New Zealand to ramp up support for tourism and education in Tonga

Foreign Minister Murray McCully has announced New Zealand will make substantial contributions to the development of Tonga’s tourism and education sectors, as part of a Joint Commitment for Development agreed and signed with the Tongan Government today.
