New Zealand High Commission London, United Kingdom

If you are a New Zealander with a Student Loan living overseas you need to be aware of the changes made 1 April 2014 regarding overseas-based borrowers . A recent press release from IRD below outlines the changes:

Kiwis living in the UK are urged to address repayments of their student loan debt by 30 September as new rules which introduced higher repayment obligations for overseas-based borrowers take effect.

Today marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. A hundred years ago we were brought together under the most horrific of circumstances and today in Glasgow, Commonwealth countries joined together again, this time to reflect and remember the huge sacrifices made by our ancestors. This special commemorative sercice was attended by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Prime Minister David Cameron. The Governor-General, Sir Gerry Mataparae and High Commissioner, Sir Lockwood Smith represented the New Zealand Government.

The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme aims to discover, celebrate and support young people from every corner of the Commonwealth to transform their own lives and the futures of others around them.

Are you a Kiwi who has recently arrived to the UK, or simply want to become better connected to NZ?  Keep Tuesday 03 June free!

Summer is coming and it's a great time for travelling.  We know that many fellow Kiwis who make the UK their base tend to get away frequently over the summer to see the rest of Europe.

The application process for Royal Ascot tickets is now open! It was fantastic to see so many at the Dawn service this year. We're hoping that rain will hold off now for the Cenotaph wreath laying at the Westminster Abbey service. For those of you who were not able to make the Dawn service please see a copy of the High Commissioner, Sir Lockwood Smith's Address here. "This year as we mark the centenary of the outbreak of WWI, with poignant reflection, we honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their countries almost 100 years ago, and in all subsequent conflicts where New Zealanders and Australians have served."

New Zealand High Commissioner Sir Lockwood Smith addressed the Royal Over-Seas League Council on 31 March 2014 speaking about 'Team Commonwealth in a Changing World'.

Dates for the 2014 General Election have been announced with Overseas Voting to open from 3 September. Further information on how and where you can vote will be available closer to the time. See here for key election dates and here to enrol, check or update your details.

The New Zealand High Commission would like to invite all those wishing to pay their respects to join them for these commemorations on Friday 25 April 2014.
