Immigration New Zealand (INZ) is the government agency responsible for establishing New Zealand immigration policies.

As New Zealand, Mexico and the USA have a Visa Waiver Agreement, a US or Mexico passport holder:

  • with return air tickets., or holding a valid onwards ticket to a country the traveller has a right to enter
  • who has a passport valid for three months beyond the date they are leaving NZ
  • who has proof of sufficient funds for the duration of the visit, and
  • is only wishing to visit for the time granted on arrival

may visit New Zealand as a tourist for up to three months without a visa. (If the intention is to stay longer, you should apply for a visitor's visa.)

US and Mexico citizens travelling on valid "regular" passports do not have to pay fees for visitor, work, or student visas.

2) Provide a pre-paid, self-addressed, return courier envelope with any application submitted. This is to enable the safe return of all original documents.

3) All fees are to be paid by money order or postal order only. We cannot accept payment by credit card or personal cheque.

Please remember that you may stay in New Zealand until the date shown on the visa in your passport. If you remain in New Zealand after your visa expires then you may be arrested, removed and banned from returning to New Zealand for up to five years. Please make sure that you have a valid visa at all times while you are in New Zealand.
