Each year on April 25, the Australian and New Zealand Embassies commemorate ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) Day to recognise the sacrifices that Australian and New Zealand service men and women have made - not only in defending their country, but in upholding their nations’ longstanding commitment to peace and security. To mark this special occasion in 2010, the New Zealand and Australian Embassies are co-hosting the following programme of events, to which all are invited.

New Zealand observed Waitangi Day on 6 February, 2010.  Read the speeches of the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and the Prime Minister, Hon John Key, to mark the occasion of New Zealand's national day.

On 12 January 2009 the United States introduced a new electronic visa waiver system that requires all New Zealanders (and many others) planning to travel to the United States for less than 90 days for business or tourism without a visa to obtain an on-line travel authorisation before they go. With effect from 20 January 2010 it is fully mandatory.

A new wind farm has been commissioned on Ross Island, Antarctica.  The wind farm has been constructed over the last two years through New Zealand and American cooperation and effort and represents a major commitment by New Zealand to the joint United States-New Zealand logistics pool.

New Zealand and the United States have agreed to enhance cooperation
in science and technology research to improve the shared capabilities of both
nations to protect against acts of terrorism and other threats to domestic and
