New Zealand Embassy hosts special screening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
The New Zealand Embassy and Time Warner co-hosted a special screening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Wednesday 12 December ahead of the December general release. The special screening was in 3D and held at the AMC Georgetown Theatre.
Prior to the special screening, the Embassy hosted a reception for more than 200 guests, including US government officials, business representatives and members of the diplomatic corps. Ambassador Mike Moore and Carol Melton, Executive Vice President for Global Public Policy at Time Warner, both made remarks.
Ms Melton remarked on how the film showcases the beautiful landscape of New Zealand and gave Ambassador Moore a Hobbit film sword. Ambassador Moore remarked on how The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a “great example of collaboration between Kiwis and Americans” and reminded audiences that the film industry is now worth more to the New Zealand economy than fisheries.
The special screening was one of several held across the US, including Los Angeles and New York.
