The NZ/US Pacific Partnership Forum and associated 'New Zealand Week' activities are taking place in Washington and Los Angeles from 19 – 24 May. This is an opportunity to deepen our political relationship with the US at all levels; promote our unique culture, food and cuisine; and discuss issues of importance for the Asia-Pacific and beyond.


The New Zealand Embassy in coordination with the Australian Embassy commemorated Anzac Day on April 25, 2013 at various venues around the District. Anzac Day honours the service of the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps. 


New Zealand and the United States signed an Agreement on enhancing cooperation in preventing and combating crime today.


New Zealand Embassy Chef Nathan Bates won Cultural Tourism DC’s 2013 Embassy Chef Challenge on Thursday, March 14, taking home awards in all three categories in a competition against eight other DC embassy chefs from China, El Salvador, Jamaica, South Korea, Norway, Russia, South Africa and Trinidad and Tobago.


The New Zealand Embassy and Time Warner co-hosted a special screening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Wednesday 12 December ahead of the December general release.  The special screening was in 3D and held at the AMC Georgetown Theatre.  


New Zealand Embassy employees organised a toy drive to support the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots programme.  The programme collects new, unwrapped toys during the months of October, November and December each year, and distributes them as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the local community. The programme helps thousands of families around the United States.



Ambassador Moore welcomes Mike Taylor Deputy Commissioner for Food at the US  Food and Drug Administration  (FDA) and Carol Barnao, Deputy Director General Standards, Ministry for Primary Industries to New Zealand in Washington DC for the signing of an agreement that recognizes each country’s food safety systems as providing a comparable degree of food safety assurance. 


The New Zealand Embassy will be closed from Tuesday 25 December 2012 through to Tuesday 1 January inclusive.


On 10 December, the New Zealand Embassy hosted a presentation by Dr Jennifer Curtin, a visiting Fulbright scholar from the University of Auckland, on “What gets women elected: Comparing New Zealand and the United States”.


On 3 December 2012, the New Zealand Embassy hosted a presentation by Dr Holly Thorpe, a visiting Fulbright scholar from the University of Waikato, on “The Christchurch earthquake: How sport helped the city recover from natural disaster.”
