The New Zealand Embassy hosted a medal ceremony for two New Zealanders who received campaign medals for their service on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the New Zealand Ambassador’s Residence.   


The Ambassador’s Shield Rugby Festival on Sunday, 11 November 2012, showcased a series of rugby matches at Ft. McNair in Washington, DC and closed with the main event, a match between the New Zealand Ambassador’s XV and the US Military Combined Services teams. 


Stakeholder registration for Round 15 of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations is now open.  Round 15 will be hosted by New Zealand at the SkyCity Convention Centre in central Auckland over 3-12 December 2012.

Stakeholders from the eleven TPP participant countries are invited to a host-organised programme at the negotiating venue on Friday 7 December, comprising:

·         9am-2pm:  Scheduled stakeholder presentations



Rt Hon Mike Moore, New Zealand Ambassador to the United States, and Mr Dennis Kelly, director of the Smithsonian National Zoo, hosted the official handover of kiwi feathers to New Zealand in a ceremony on Monday 24 September at the New Zealand Embassy.

 WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) today announced that New Zealand will expand its cooperation with NNSA to reduce nuclear threats around the world. Under an agreement signed with NNSA's Office of Global Threat Reduction (GTRI), New Zealand will contribute U.S. $400,000 to support GTRI’s efforts in Uzbekistan to secure and remove vulnerable nuclear material. 



Defence Minister Jonathan Coleman and US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta signed the Washington Declaration on 19 June 2012, a new defence cooperation arrangement, at the Pentagon in Washington DC.

“Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States of America and Viet Nam today welcomed Mexico as a new participant in negotiations to conclude a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement. 


Nisha Biswal (left), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Asia, and Amanda Ellis (right), Deputy Secretary for the International Development Group of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, signed a partnership agreement on June 4, 2012, to support the Kiribati Solid Waste Management Initiative.
