New Zealand opera star Teddy Tahu Rhodes is currently performing at the Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C.

Playing the part of the Count in the 'Marriage of Figaro',  Rhodes was recently described by Washington Post reporter Anne Midgette as a performer who "oozed star quality".

A new wind farm has been commissioned on Ross Island, Antarctica.  The wind farm has been constructed over the last two years through New Zealand and American cooperation and effort and represents a major commitment by New Zealand to the joint United States-New Zealand logistics pool. 


New Zealand and the United States have agreed to enhance cooperation
in science and technology research to improve the shared capabilities of both
nations to protect against acts of terrorism and other threats to domestic and
external security. 9 January 2010. 


Foreign Minister Murray McCully announces New Zealand’s next Ambassador to the United States will be the Rt Hon Mike Moore.


“I am delighted to offer my congratulations and gratitude to Julian Robertson and John Mullen, both of whom were recognised in the New Zealand New Year’s Honours list. Both are American citizens who are very good friends of New Zealand and who have demonstrated that friendship through their contributions to the relationship between our two countries”, said New Zealand Ambassador Roy Ferguson.


On 14 November 2009, US President Barack Obama announced that the United States will engage with the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) initiative, which involves New Zealand.
