New Zealand Aid Programme supports Tapelaika and Tafea Tourism
The Tafea Tourism Council (TTC) on Tanna Island and the Tapelaika Women's Club on Nguna Island signed funding arrangements with the New Zealand High Comnmission on Tuesday 9 November 2010. A total of VT3.5 million was approved for a project to strengthen TTC's capacity to support tourism businesses in Tafea Province, and VT1.9 million for the completion of the Tapelaika women's club house. Funding for these projects was provided through the New Zealand Aid Programme Small Projects Scheme (SPS) facility, with endorsement from the Government of Vanuatu.
The signings were made in the presence of the New Zealand High Commissioner, Jeff Langley, SPS Manager, Johnson Vora, and the Manager of the Head Of Mission Fund (HOMF), Joel Jonas.
In his remarks to the council and club representatives, Jeff Langley congratulated them for their efforts to date to work together on their respective project proposals. He noted that New Zealand was happy to provide direct support to communties where they can work together to improve their lives.
