What the Embassy does
Political, economic and trade relations:
The focus of the Embassy's work is managing New Zealand's political, economic and trade relations with Viet Nam.
Consular assistance:
The Embassy provides consular assistance to resident and visiting New Zealanders, including emergency assistance and advice in the case of arrests, hospitalisation or if passports are lost/stolen.
Official development assistance:
New Zealand's official development assistance programme in Viet Nam contributes to the efforts of the Vietnamese Government and its people to achieve poverty elimination through equitable and sustainable social and economic development.
Trade and investment promotion:
The Embassy’s overseas trade and investment promotion office is staffed by a Trade Commissioner and other staff from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE). It provides assistance to New Zealand exporters, and promotes New Zealand and its capabilities to potential customers and investors.
Immigration:
The Ho Chi Minh City branch of Immigration New Zealand processes applications from Vietnamese nationals who wish to visit, study or work on a temporary basis in New Zealand visas for entry to New Zealand.
Applications from Vietnamese nationals who wish to permanently reside in New Zealand are processed in Bangkok.
