New Zealand Embassy Ha Noi, Viet Nam


New Zealand Trade Minister Tim Groser has announced that the third CER-ASEAN Integration Partnership Forum will take place in Cairns, Australia, on 18 June.


As part of the Young Business Leaders’ Initiative run by the AsiaNZ Foundation, Nguyen Thanh Vinh, CEO of Viet Nam textile company GARB, visited New Zealand for 10 days in April to meet with wool industry leaders, clothing importers, textile scientists and government agencies.


The Royal New Zealand Navy Ship, Her Majesty’s New Zealand Ship (HMNZS) TE MANA with a crew of 25 officers and 102 sailors is making a five-day goodwill visit to Viet Nam from 24 to 29 April 2013. It is the fifth New Zealand naval ship visit to Viet Nam - the last occurred in 2011.
During the ship’s visit, senior officers will pay courtesy calls on navy counterparts and the local People's Committee.


Ambassador Manning first made his introductory calls on the Provincial Party Secretary, H.E. Nguyen Van Thien and Provincial Chairman, H.E. Le Huu Loc. Both sides highly appreciated a long-term partnership between New Zealand and Binh Dinh province grounded in a long history and in strong mutual interests.


New Zealand Ambassador Haike Manning has made his first visit to Hanoi Museum, to meet Museum Director Mr Nguyen Tien Da and members of the Hanoi Museum Project Management Unit. 


The New Zealand and Australian Embassies in Ha Noi will commemorate Anzac Day with a dawn service at the Australian Embassy.


During a visit to Ho Chi Minh City on 28-29 March, New Zealand’s Ambassador to Viet Nam Haike Manning met the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Mr Le Hoang Quan, for a discussion on New Zealand’s strengthening relationship with Ho Chi Minh City.


Victoria University’s Professor Neil Quigley has been awarded a prestigious honorary degree by the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This honour recognises Professor Quigley’s commitment to education in Vietnam and relations between the two countries.

Minister of Defence and Member of the Communist Party Politburo, H.E. General Phung Quang Thanh, made history last week by becoming the first Defence Minister of Viet Nam to visit New Zealand.  Minister Thanh visited Wellington and Auckland as a Guest of Government during a five-day visit from 20-25 March.
