New Zealand Embassy Ha Noi, Viet Nam


The New Zealand Government has announced that New Zealand degree-awarding institutions will be able to provide 180-credit Master’s degrees from 2013. 


New Zealand hosted its second round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations, and the 15th round overall, in Auckland on 3-12 December 2012.


New Zealand, represented by the New Zealand Ambassador to Viet Nam and the Development Manager,  participated actively in the Annual Consultative Group Meeting held in Ha Noi on December 10. The first half of the full day meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Dung.  A wide range of senior Vietnamese Government Ministers and officials as well as representatives of all major bilateral and multilateral development partners attended.


The JTEC, held every two years, provides an opportunity for open discussion on a full range of bilateral, regional and multilateral trade and economic issues. 


New Zealand Prime Minister John Key met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on November 20 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in the margins of the EAS Summit and related meetings. Check out this link for further information!


New Zealand is an active participant in the current TPP negotiations and will host the next round of negotiations in Auckland in early December 2012. Alongside that, at the just concluded EAS Summit in Phnom Penh on 20 November, New Zealand joined other Asian countries and regional partners (including Viet Nam) to launch negotiations for a 16-nation regional free trade agreement called RCEP. The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs has again published its annual United Nations Handbook this year, to coincide with the opening of the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.  A free online electronic version is available for the first time.


Teams from New Zealand and Viet Nam met in Wellington on 3-4 October for the latest bilateral Track II Dialogue – the fourth time the talks have been held.
