Passport fees

The following passport and Emergency Travel Document fees are effective as at 1 January 2014.

Passport application sent to New Zealand (by applicant)

  • Machine-readable E-passport (Adult) NZ$140.00
  • Machine-readable E-passport (Adult Renewal) NZ$134.50
  • Machine-readable E-passport (Child) NZ$81.70

Conditions Sent to New Zealand (direct) by applicant with fee or credit card details enclosed (NZ Embassy can not accept fee). Also add cost of return courier service. Current passport will be invalidated once the application is received by DIA.
Allow approx 3 weeks for new passport to be received.

Passport application process at Embassy

  • Machine-readable E-passport (Adult) US$150 (=VND3,100,000)
  • Machine-readable E-passport (Adult Renewal) US$145 (=VND3,000,000)
  • Machine-readable E-passport (Child) US$105 (=VND2,150,000)

Conditions Includes $50 diplomatic bag fee. Application and fee submitted to NZ Embassy. Current passport may be retained (conditions apply) but need to be handed in for cancellation before new passport can be issued.
Allow approx 4 weeks for new passport to be received.

DIA now have an online passport application service which is quicker and more cost effective than sending applications by courier or the diplomatic bag. The online service is only available for Adult Renewal applications but cannot be used for urgent service applications or if you wish to retain use of your current passport. Please visit the DIA website to obtain further information about this service.



Machine-readable ETD (All types) US$275 (=VND5,700,000)

Conditions Application and fee submitted to NZ Embassy. Replacement ETD is produced at the Embassy within three days of correctly received application.
